Summary
The Automation Engine now includes an exception resolution trigger that automatically detects and clears eligible exceptions across your organization. This feature reduces manual exception handling and helps keep your operations running smoothly—no intervention required.
Pipe17’s exception resolution engine runs on a scheduled basis, checking for exceptions that meet defined resolution criteria and applying appropriate rules, including publicly available resolution logic for deprecated exceptions.
The resolution trigger is located under the "Scheduled Rules" tab.
How It Works
Once enabled, the exception resolution engine performs the following:
- Runs every 3 hours for exceptions created in the last 24 hours
- Runs once every 24 hours for exceptions older than 24 hours
- Evaluates all active exceptions in the organization using a growing library of resolution rules
By default, Pipe17 provides a base rule that resolves exceptions older than a user-defined threshold. Additionally, public resolution rules maintained by Pipe17 are available for resolving known, deprecated exceptions.
Prerequisites
- No setup is required for newly created organizations—this feature is enabled automatically.
- For existing organizations, this feature is being rolled out progressively and may not yet be active.
Creating a Custom Exception Resolution Rule
You can configure your own resolution criteria to automate specific exception types:
- Go to [Automations] > [Exceptions] > [Scheduled Rules]
- Click "Create Rule"
- Apply a filter to define which exceptions the rule applies to (e.g., type, age, status)
- Set the action to update the exception status to either Dismissed or Resolved
- Save the rule
Your custom rule will now be evaluated alongside the other rules when Pipe17 processes exceptions next.
Enabling Public Exception Rules
Pipe17 maintains a library of pre-built rules to handle common situations where exceptions can be auto-resolved:
- Go to [Automations] > [Exceptions] > [Scheduled Rules]
- Locate the rules labeled as Public. Once enabled, they will show as Override.
- Enable the rules relevant to your operation
These rules are maintained and updated by Pipe17 to reflect platform and integration changes.
