Product Import/Export via CSV

If you need to upload a number of products at once, Pipe17 allows you to create or update (import) products with a comma-separated-value (CSV) file. You can also export your products in Pipe17 into a convenient CSV file.

Import: Format your CSV file for product upload

You can download our product CSV template by heading into Products in Pipe17, then clicking on the dropdown menu from Import CSV > Download Products Template. You can also choose to download the Bundled Products Template or Products Channel Options Template, depending on your import needs. 

The template contains all the possible columns accepted by Pipe17, as well as some example products. Your own product CSV must match the format of the template.

You can replace the example data with your own product information. Each product should have its own row. Not all columns are required, but you must include at least SKU and Name

Please note that unless otherwise stated, keyword values for columns such as Type and Status should be entered as lower case. An edge case example is bundleItem, which requires a capitalized I character to be present. CSV submissions containing values which do not match the expected input or formatting will return errors, but may also silently fail to import the expected data. 

If you want to use this feature to bulk update your products, you only need to fill in the SKU, plus the fields you actually want to update. Blank columns will be ignored, so your existing product information will remain the same if you leave a column blank.

Tip: If you need to explicitly clear a product field, type in "/". Pipe17 will overwrite any existing information on that field with a blank value.

Alternatively, you can export a CSV with the existing products and modify with the required updates. You do not need to include columns that you do not wish to update. See section Export: Export your products in Pipe17 into a CSV file

 

Import: Upload your products

  1. Head into your Products tab in Pipe17, then click on Import CSV.
  2. Select your file in the import pop-up, or drag and drop the file.
  3. Choose whether you want to overwrite or skip the row in the case of any duplicates encountered.
  4. Check that your records have been included correctly. Else, modify your CSV file accordingly and upload it again.
  5. Enter the email addresses to send the status of the imported CSV. 
  6. Click "Import".

The import will complete in the background, and you will receive a status update on the imported CSV via email when the import has been completed successfully or if there are any errors.

Upload or update multiple bundles

You can create or update multiple bundles via a CSV upload using the Bundled Products Template.

 

Export: Export your products in Pipe17 into a CSV file

You can export your products in Pipe17 into a CSV file by heading into Products in Pipe17, then clicking on Export. You can also choose to export only the Bundled Products or Product Channels Options, depending on your export needs. 

  1. To filter the products to export, you can set the filter in the Products catalog.
  2. You can then review the properties that you want include in this product export. 
  3. Enter the email addresses to send the exported product CSV for download.
