Overview

While the specifics will differ depending on your exact integrations, you will need to complete the same general set of steps to get up and running with Pipe17:

  1. Add your selling channel connector(s) in the Pipe17 portal
  2. Add your fulfillment channel connector(s) in the Pipe17 portal
  3. Authenticate the integrations so that Pipe17 can connect to the external systems
  4. Configure the integration settings to specify what data should flow in/out of Pipe17

Connect your Selling Channel(s)

What is your selling channel?

Your selling channel is where Pipe17 will pull your orders from.

Examples include selling platforms like Shopify, BigCommerce, Walmart, and so on. But it could also be something else—for example, if your orders are flowing through an ERP software like NetSuite, that ERP could function as a selling channel in Pipe17.

Check out the full breakdown of available connectors on the Pipe17 website.

Add a selling channel to Pipe17

Once you know which channel you will need, head into the Integrations tab on your Pipe17 portal and follow the steps below to add your new connector.

Note: You may have already added your channels when you first logged in to Pipe17, as part of your onboarding wizard setup. If that is the case, you'll see those integrations here already.
  1. From the Integrations page, click Add Integration.
  2. Search and select the integration you wish to add. Click on it, then click Add.
  3. In the “Flow Settings” page, leave everything disabled (default).
  4. Next, in the “How to connect...” page, you connect Pipe17 to your chosen integration. Each connector is slightly different, but generally this connection is done in one of two ways:
    • Open authorization (OAuth): In this case, all you have to do is click Connect. The login page for the channel may open in a new tab, and you just have to login with your credentials for that channel in the new tab to complete the connection.
    • API key and secret: For some connectors, you will need to provide Pipe17 with API credentials to complete the integration. Each platform is different, so follow the directions in the page to locate the required API credentials for the channel you are connecting. If you are unable to locate them, you may need to contact the support team for that channel. Once you fill the required information, click Connect
  5. Your connector has been added! You can now find it under Integrations in your Pipe17 dashboard to continue setting it up.

The most common configuration flow settings for a selling channel is:

  • Pull Orders*: Pipe17 will pull orders from this selling channel.
  • Pull Products: Pipe17 will pull products from this selling channel, treating it as the Product Catalog
  • Push Inventory: Pipe17 will send inventory information to this selling channel.
  • Push Fulfillments: When orders are fulfilled, Pipe17 will send fulfillment and tracking information to the selling channel.

The exact names of these settings differ from connector to connector. For specific guidance on different selling channels, refer to our connector-specific Setup Guides.

*Best Practice: You may want to wait until the testing step to enable the "Pull orders" setting.

Connect your Fulfillment Channel(s)

What is your fulfillment channel?

Your fulfillment channel is where your orders will be sent for fulfillment and shipping by Pipe17.
Examples include warehouses, 3PLs and 4PLs like Ware2Go, Stord or Amazon MCF.

Add a fulfillment channel to Pipe17

Head into the Integrations tab of your Pipe17 portal and follow the steps below to add your new connector.

The most common configuration flow settings for a fulfillment channel is:

  • Push shipping requests*: Pipe17 will send shipping requests to your fulfillment channel.
  • Pull inventory: Pipe17 will pull inventory numbers from your fulfillment channel.
  • Pull fulfillments: Pipe17 will pull fulfillments from your fulfillment channel.

Many fulfillment channels also offer these settings:

  • Pull locations: Pipe17 will pull locations from your fulfillment channel. This option should generally be enabled to ensure that the locations in Pipe17 and your fulfillment channel is synchronised, so it is often not editable.

The exact names of these settings differ from connector to connector. For specific guidance on different fulfillment channels, refer to our connector-specific Setup Guides.

*Best Practice: At this point, only enable the "Push shipping requests" setting if you are ready to start sending orders from your selling channel to your fulfillment service. You may want to proceed with further testing before turning this on.

Once your integrations are added, you'll be able to see it in the Integrations page in Pipe17. If you've added the required connection information, you'll see that it says "Connected". If you see an error here, ensure your authentication information is correct and contact our support team if you're not able to resolve the error.
