Managing Users in Pipe17

Adding users to your Pipe17 account enables team collaboration across your organization. Whether you’re inviting internal team members or external partners (such as developers or shipping managers), user roles and permissions ensure secure access to the appropriate parts of the app.

Only Administrators and custom roles that have “create”, “update”, or “delete” permissions can manage users in the app. Without these permissions, you won’t be able to invite, edit, or remove users.

Creating Users and Assigning Roles

To invite a new user:

  1. Go to Settings → Users in the left navigation panel.

  2. Review the list of current users. If you're just getting started, only your own name and email will appear.

  3. Click Invite in the upper-right corner.

  4. In the Invite User window:

    • Enter the user's first name and last name.

    • Enter the user's email address.

    • Choose one or more appropriate Role(s) (Administrator, User, or Developer). Learn more about Roles.

  5. Click Save.

The user will receive an email with login instructions.

If a user is assigned multiple roles, the app applies the most permissive combination. For example, a user with both User and Developer roles can create and manage integrations because the Developer role allows it.

Accepting the Invitation

After the invitation is sent:

  • The user will receive an email with the subject "Welcome to Pipe17" within a few minutes.

  • If they don’t see the message, ask them to check their spam or junk folder.

  • The user should click Sign In in the email to access your organization’s Pipe17 portal.

  • Until the invitation is accepted, the user will appear as Pending in the user list.

Editing or Removing a User

To change an existing user's role:

  1. Go to Settings → Users.

  2. Click the user’s name.

  3. In the Edit User dialog, choose a new role from the dropdown.

  4. Click Save. Changes take effect immediately.

The built-in roles are displayed with an asterisk (*) next to them in the table.

To revoke access for a user:

  1. Go to Settings → Users.

  2. Select the user from the list with a checkbox.

  3. Use the available options to resend the invitation, reset MFA, or delete the user.

  4. Confirm your action. Changes take effect immediately.
