Connect Amazon Vendor Central to Pipe17

The Amazon Vendor Central connector pulls your Amazon direct fulfillment orders into the app, gets Amazon shipping labels for them, and sends shipment confirmations and inventory back to Amazon. You connect it by authorizing Pipe17 in Amazon Vendor Central for your marketplace.

With this connector, you can:

  • Pull new and canceled orders from Amazon Vendor Central every 5 minutes.
  • Get Amazon shipping labels, and optionally packing slips, for your shipping requests.
  • Send fulfillments to Amazon as shipment confirmations.
  • Send inventory to Amazon for each of your warehouses.
  • Pull specific orders again by order number or by date.

Setup

Before you begin, make sure you have:

  • An Amazon Vendor Central account that receives direct fulfillment orders, with permission to authorize apps.
  • The marketplace where you want to authorize, for example United States or Germany.
  • Pop-up blockers turned off in your browser. The authorization opens Amazon Vendor Central in a pop-up.
  • To send inventory: your Amazon selling party ID, and the Amazon warehouse code for each location you ship from.

Flows

Flow Direction Notes
Orders Amazon Vendor Central → Pipe17 Runs every 5 minutes. Pulls direct fulfillment orders and assigns each one to the location whose warehouse code matches the order’s ship-from warehouse. The app updates an existing order only while it’s in an early status, such as New, On Hold, or Ready for Fulfillment. To pull orders again, use the Pull orders by external order ID or Pull orders by date action. Pulling by date covers 1 hour by default, up to 48 hours.
Order cancellations Amazon Vendor Central → Pipe17 When Amazon cancels an order that’s already in the app, the app cancels it too.
Shipping labels Amazon Vendor Central → Pipe17 For shipping requests that are waiting for a shipping label, the app requests labels from Amazon. Amazon creates labels in the background, so the app checks back on later runs and then attaches the labels, tracking numbers, carrier, and shipping method to the shipping request. The shipping request then moves to Ready for Fulfillment. If Pull packing slips is on, the packing slip is attached too.
Fulfillments Pipe17 → Amazon Vendor Central Sends each fulfillment to Amazon as a shipment confirmation. The app then checks the result with Amazon for up to about an hour. If Amazon rejects it, the fulfillment gets an exception with Amazon’s errors. If the shipment is already confirmed in Amazon, the app marks the fulfillment as sent and doesn’t send it again.
Inventory Pipe17 → Amazon Vendor Central Sends available inventory for each location that has an Amazon warehouse code, grouped by warehouse. Requires Selling party id. SKUs listed in Do not process inventory with these SKUs are skipped.

Troubleshooting

  • The connection fails with “Authorization timed out” or an invalid refresh token error
You didn’t finish approving access in Amazon Vendor Central within 15 minutes, or the authorization was revoked. Turn off your pop-up blocker, select the right marketplace under Authorize in marketplace, and then connect again.
  • Inventory isn’t sent and shows a “No Selling party id” error
Enter your Amazon selling party ID in Selling party id. The app also skips locations that don’t have an Amazon warehouse code, so check that each location you ship from has one.
  • Orders are missing or assigned to the wrong location
Check that Pull orders from Amazon Vendor Central is on and that Exclude orders created before this date isn’t later than the orders. Orders are assigned to the location whose warehouse code matches Amazon’s ship-from warehouse. To pull a missed order, use the Pull orders by external order ID action. To learn more, see Getting Started with Locations in Pipe17.
  • A shipping request stays waiting for a shipping label
Amazon creates labels in the background, so labels can take a few runs to arrive. Check that Pull shipping labels from Amazon Vendor Central is on and that the order came from this integration.
  • A fulfillment has an exception after it was sent to Amazon
Amazon rejected the shipment confirmation, and the exception lists Amazon’s errors. Fix the data the errors point to, such as a SKU or quantity. For split shipments of bundles, the app waits until the full quantity is fulfilled before it confirms the shipment.
