Connect TikTok Shop to Shopify

Connecting TikTok Shop and Shopify through the app lets you sell across both channels while keeping catalog and inventory data aligned. The app sits between the two platforms as the intermediary - it pulls data in from each connector and pushes data out to the other. There is no direct TikTok-to-Shopify integration; everything flows through the app.

Products are linked across channels by SKU.

This article covers:

  • How product data flows through the app
  • Choosing which platform owns the primary catalog
  • Matching products by SKU and manually mapping SKUs when they differ
  • Configuring fulfillment locations across the two connectors

Before you begin

How product sync works

The app is always the intermediary. Each connector handles its own half of the flow:

  • TikTok Shop → App: The TikTok Shop connector pulls product data into the app.
  • App → Shopify: The Shopify connector pushes product data from the app to Shopify.
  • Shopify → App: The Shopify connector pulls product data into the app.
  • App → TikTok Shop: The TikTok Shop connector pushes product data from the app to TikTok Shop.

Two important constraints:

  • Pushing products to TikTok Shop is available only for US and UK regions. If you operate in another region, you cannot push a Shopify-mastered catalog to TikTok Shop and should use TikTok Shop as the primary catalog instead.
  • Shopify V3 does not support bidirectional product sync. Configure Shopify product sync as inbound or outbound - not both.

Choose your primary catalog

The primary catalog determines the direction of product data flow.

  • TikTok Shop as primary: Use this when products are already set up in TikTok Shop and Shopify has little or no product data, or when you sell outside the US and UK. The TikTok Shop connector pulls products into the app, and the Shopify connector pushes them out to Shopify.
  • Shopify as primary: Use this when Shopify holds your master product list. The Shopify connector pulls products into the app, and the TikTok Shop connector pushes them out to TikTok Shop. This requires a US or UK TikTok Shop.
  • Both platforms already populated: When products exist on both sides, the app matches them by SKU. Identical SKUs are linked automatically.

Choose one platform as primary before you push or pull product data. Switching direction after products exist on both sides can produce duplicates or mismatched records.

How SKU matching works

The app uses SKU as the unique identifier for product matching across channels.

  • Identical SKUs on TikTok Shop and Shopify are linked automatically and treated as the same product.
  • Different SKUs for the same product require manual mapping.
  • Identical SKUs assigned to different products will be incorrectly merged. Audit your catalogs for SKU uniqueness before connecting the channels.

Map SKUs manually

If the same product uses different SKUs on TikTok Shop and Shopify, map them on the product record in the app.

  1. Navigate to Products and open the product you want to map.
  2. Scroll to the Channel Options section on the product page. This section displays a row for each connected integration with four columns: Integration NameSync to ChannelInventory Buffer, and Channel SKU.
  3. In the row for each integration, enter the channel-specific SKU in the Channel SKU column.
  4. Save your changes.

You can populate the Channel SKU field in multiple integration rows on the same product when the catalog originates from a third channel and SKUs differ across the board.

Configure locations

Fulfillment routing is handled by the Order Routing Engine (ORE) based on the location configuration of each connector. SKU matching links product records across channels, but it does not determine where an order is fulfilled - location settings on the connectors do.

To align fulfillment across TikTok Shop and Shopify:

  • Configure location preferences on each connector individually so orders from each channel route to the correct fulfillment destination.
  • On the Shopify V3 connector, under Inventory, use the Report inventory totals from Pipe17 to dedicated Shopify location setting. This is a location picker - when you select a Pipe17 location here, all inventory from all active Pipe17 locations is aggregated and reported to that single Shopify location. Use this when fulfillment happens outside Shopify and you want a simplified inventory view in Shopify.
  • Verify each channel's location mapping for routing to a 3PL or warehouse before going live.

Best practices

  • Decide your primary catalog before pushing or pulling product data.
  • Audit SKUs for uniqueness across both platforms before connecting them.
  • For non-US/UK TikTok Shops, plan around the push limitation by making TikTok Shop the primary catalog.
  • Test with a single product before syncing the full catalog.

Troubleshooting

  • Products are not syncing between TikTok Shop and Shopify
Confirm both connectors are enabled and that the configured product sync direction matches your primary catalog choice. Check that SKUs match exactly across both platforms - including case and any leading or trailing characters.
  • Products are not pushing to TikTok Shop
Pushing products to TikTok Shop is available only for US and UK regions. Confirm your TikTok Shop region. If you sell outside the US or UK, use TikTok Shop as the primary catalog and have Shopify pull from the app instead.
  • The wrong product is being matched across channels
Two different products likely share a SKU. Update the SKU on one of them, then re-map manually on the product page in the app.
  • The Channel SKU column or field is not visible in Channel Options
    Two causes are possible:
    • The connector for that integration row does not support SKU mapping. Connectors that do not declare the SKU mapping capability do not render a Channel SKU input. SKU mapping cannot be enabled by the user for these connectors.
    • You are viewing a parent product that has no existing channel SKU values set. The Channel SKU column is hidden in this case. Open a child or variant product to set channel SKUs.
  • A Shopify or TikTok Shop order is routing to the wrong fulfillment location
SKU matching links product records but does not control fulfillment routing. Review the location configuration on the relevant connector and confirm the ORE has the correct routing rules. If you use Report inventory totals from Pipe17 to dedicated Shopify location on the Shopify V3 connector, confirm it points to the intended location.
