Connect TikTok Shop to Loop

This guide shows how to use Loop as the returns platform for your TikTok Shop orders, with Pipe17 acting as the bridge between TikTok Shop and Shopify.

Loop reads orders and writes refunds in Shopify. TikTok Shop doesn't integrate with Loop directly, and TikTok Shop's own Shopify connector cannot satisfy Loop's lookup requirements. Pipe17 closes the gap by pulling orders from TikTok Shop, writing them into Shopify in a format Loop can find, and propagating refunds back to TikTok Shop.

Things to know up front:

  • TikTok Shop's H5 Redirect feature is required. It is a whitelisted, non-public feature. Your TikTok Shop Account Manager must request approval before this integration will work.
  • Shopify is required. Loop does not yet support multi-channel lookups, so the merchant must have a Shopify account. Pipe17 uses Shopify as the order-of-record so Loop can find orders.
  • Customers must use the shipping address zip code, not their email. TikTok Shop does not share the buyer's email, so Loop cannot match returns by email.

How the integration works

Order flow:

  1. A buyer places an order on TikTok Shop.
  2. Pipe17 pulls the order from TikTok Shop.
  3. Pipe17 writes the order into Shopify in a way that lets Loop look it up.
  4. Pipe17 pulls fulfillment data from Shopify and pushes it back to TikTok Shop.

Return flow:

  1. The buyer clicks the return link in TikTok Shop and is redirected (via H5 Redirect) to the merchant's Loop return portal.
  2. The buyer enters the TikTok Shop order number and the shipping address zip code.
  3. Loop creates the refund in Shopify.
  4. Pipe17 pulls the refund from Shopify and pushes it to TikTok Shop.

Before you begin

  • An active TikTok Shop account and a Shopify store on the same Pipe17 instance.
  • A Loop Returns account connected to your Shopify store.
  • Approval from TikTok Shop for the H5 Redirect feature (see Step 1).
  • Your TikTok Shop Account Manager contact.
  • Your Loop return portal URL.

Step 1: Get H5 Redirect approved by TikTok Shop

H5 Redirect is the feature that allows TikTok Shop to send buyers to your Loop return portal instead of TikTok's default return flow.

  1. Contact your TikTok Shop Account Manager.
  2. Request an exception to TikTok Shop's default platform return process and ask for approval for the H5 Redirect feature.
  3. Wait for written confirmation from TikTok Shop before continuing. Subsequent steps depend on this approval.

Step 2: Configure TikTok Shop in Pipe17

  1. Add the TikTok Shop connector to your Pipe17 account if it isn't already under Integrations.
  2. Click Connect and complete the TikTok Shop OAuth flow.
  3. Enable the following settings on the TikTok Shop connector:
    • Pull orders
    • Push fulfillments
    • Push refunds to Tiktok

Step 3: Configure Shopify in Pipe17

Shopify is configured as a downstream fulfillment destination for TikTok Shop orders, not as a parallel sales channel. The merchant's existing Shopify sales continue to work normally - Pipe17 simply routes TikTok Shop orders into Shopify so Loop can find them.

  1. Add the Shopify (V3) connector to your Pipe17 account.
  2. Click Connect and authorize the app against your Shopify store.
  3. Enable the following settings on the Shopify connector:
    • Push orders
    • Pull fulfillments
    • Set Process refunds to Pull refunds from Shopify to Pipe17.
  4. Configure Shopify as a fulfillment destination, not a sales channel. This is done through the Outbound Orders Matching rules:
    • Open the Shopify connector's Outbound Orders Matching configuration.
    • Add or edit the rule that targets TikTok Shop orders.
    • Set the rule's Order flow field to Matched orders should be pushed to Shopify for fulfillment process.
    • Save the rule.
  5. Optional but recommended: enable Exclude returns from specific apps (returnsAppsExclude) on the Shopify connector and add Loop to the excluded apps list. This prevents Pipe17 from re-processing return records that Loop has already handled and avoids duplicate refunds being pushed back to TikTok Shop.

Run a test TikTok Shop order at this point and confirm it appears in Shopify with the expected structure before continuing.


Step 4: Install the TikTok Shop Return Proxy App

  1. Open the TikTok Shop Return Proxy App authorization URL: https://services.us.tiktokshop.com/open/authorize?service_id=7252639977727674154
  2. Authorize the app against your TikTok Shop account.
  3. When prompted to choose a return portal partner, select Loop (Pipe17).
  4. Configure the return URL as: https://{RETURN PORTAL URL}/?order=[TT_ORDER_NUM]&zip=[TTS_ZIP_CODE] Replace {RETURN PORTAL URL} with your Loop return portal URL. Leave the [TT_ORDER_NUM] and [TTS_ZIP_CODE] placeholders as-is - TikTok Shop substitutes them at runtime.

Step 5: Update your Loop return portal

TikTok Shop buyers will look up their returns by TikTok Shop order number and shipping address zip code. Email lookup will not work because TikTok Shop does not share buyer email addresses.

  1. Log in to the Loop dashboard.
  2. Open the return portal settings.
  3. Update the portal instructions to clearly tell customers:
    • Enter the TikTok Shop order number.
    • Enter the shipping address zip code (not email).
  4. Make the instructions prominent on the portal landing screen.
  5. Save your changes.

Step 6: Test the return flow end-to-end

  1. Place a test order on TikTok Shop.
  2. Confirm the order syncs to Shopify through Pipe17.
  3. Initiate a return on the TikTok Shop side and confirm the buyer is redirected to your Loop return portal via H5 Redirect.
  4. Complete the return in Loop using the TikTok Shop order number and zip code.
  5. Confirm the refund is created in Shopify.
  6. Confirm Pipe17 pulls the refund from Shopify and pushes it to TikTok Shop.
  7. Verify the refund appears against the original TikTok Shop order.

Limitations

  • Shopify is required. Loop currently does not support multi-channel lookups. This requirement will be removed when Loop adds multi-channel support.
  • Email lookup is not supported. Customers must use the shipping address zip code, because TikTok Shop does not share buyer emails.
  • TikTok Shop's default Shopify connector cannot be used in place of Pipe17. It does not write orders into Shopify in the format Loop needs.

Troubleshooting

  • H5 Redirect isn't redirecting buyers to my Loop portal
    Confirm TikTok Shop has approved H5 Redirect for your account in writing. Without approval, the redirect does not activate. Also re-check the return URL configured in Step 4 - placeholders must remain exactly [TT_ORDER_NUM] and [TTS_ZIP_CODE].
  • Loop cannot find a TikTok Shop order
    Confirm the order has been written into Shopify by Pipe17. Open the order in Shopify and check that the structure matches what Loop expects for lookup. If the order is missing from Shopify, verify Push orders is enabled on the Shopify connector in Pipe17 and that the Outbound Orders Matching rule is set correctly (see Step 3).
  • TikTok Shop orders are appearing in Shopify as direct sales rather than fulfillment records
    The Outbound Orders Matching rule for TikTok Shop orders is not set to the fulfillment-destination option. Open the rule, set Order flow to Matched orders should be pushed to Shopify for fulfillment process, and save.
  •  A refund processed in Loop isn't appearing in TikTok Shop
    Trace the refund through the chain:
    • Confirm Process refunds is set to Pull refunds from Shopify to Pipe17 on the Shopify connector. The refund should appear in Pipe17 once Loop creates it in Shopify.
    • Confirm Push refunds to Tiktok is enabled on the TikTok Shop connector.
    • If both are set correctly and the refund is still missing, contact support.
  • Refunds are appearing twice on TikTok Shop orders
    This usually means Loop's refund and Shopify's native refund record are both being pulled into Pipe17 and pushed to TikTok Shop. Enable Exclude returns from specific apps on the Shopify connector and add Loop to the excluded apps list.
  • Customers say they can't find their order using their email
    Expected. TikTok Shop does not share buyer emails. Update your Loop return portal instructions (Step 5) to make clear that customers must use the shipping address zip code.
  • Fulfillment status isn't flowing back to TikTok Shop
    Confirm Pull fulfillments is enabled on the Shopify connector and Push fulfillments is enabled on the TikTok Shop connector.
