Testing Orders via the UI

Use this article to validate that orders ingest into the app correctly and appear with the expected statuses without affecting live fulfillment. This helps retailers and 3PLs confirm that order data is flowing from the sales channel before they turn on routing or fulfillment.

Prerequisites

  • Your basic setup is complete: selling channel added, fulfillment channel added, locations mapped, and routing rules configured.

  • A single test order to use:

    • Either select an existing unfulfilled order in your sales channel.

    • Or place a new low-value order in your sales channel.

  • The order ID or a test tag you can apply (for example, pipe17_test).

Steps

  1. Limit ingestion to your test order

    • In the app, go to Integrations → your selling channelSettings.

    • Use one of the following:

      • Order ID filter: enter the exact order ID you will test.

      • (Optional for the Shopify integration) Order tag filter: enter pipe17_test (or your chosen tag). If you use a tag, add that tag to the order in your sales channel.

    • If the order is older than the date shown, set Order ingestion date to a date on or before the order date.

  2. Pull only the test order

    • Still under your selling channel Settings, turn on Pull orders.

    • Make sure to specify the date in the Exclude orders created before this date setting to avoid getting all the previous orders from the selling channel.

  3. Verify ingestion in the app

    • Go to Orders.

    • Within 5 minutes, the order should appear:

      • First in New status.

      • Then transition to Ready for Fulfillment shortly after.

  4. Pull individual orders using Integration actions

Use this option to ingest a specific order immediately, without waiting for the standard polling interval.

    1. In the app, go to Integrations → your selling channelIntegration actions.

    2. Select ActionsPull orders by ID/date.

    3. Choose one of the following:

      • Order ID: Enter the exact order ID you want to ingest.

      • Date: Select the order’s creation date to pull orders from that date.

    4. (Optional) Turn on Ignore filters defined for integration to bypass any ingestion filters (for example, order ID/tag filters or SKU filters) that would normally exclude the order.

    5. Select Submit.

    Result

    • The pull runs immediately. You should see the order appear in Orders (typically within a minute), moving from New to Ready for Fulfillment shortly after.

    Notes

    • Instant vs. scheduled pulls: Integration actions run immediately, whereas standard Pull orders runs on the connector’s polling cadence (about 5 minutes).

Troubleshooting

  • Order did not appear

    • Confirm Pull orders is on for the selling channel, or use Integration actions to ingest immediately:

      • Go to Integrations > your selling channel > Integration actions > Actions > Pull orders by ID/date.

      • Enter the exact Order ID or the Date of the order, and select Run.

      • If needed, turn on Ignore filters defined for integration to bypass ingestion filters during testing.

    • Check your Order ID filter or Order tag filter for typos, extra spaces, or casing differences.

    • Ensure the Order ingestion date is on or before the order’s created date.

    • Give it a short window: standard polling can take about 5 minutes; Integration actions run immediately.

    • If your connector does not support tag or ID filters, add a temporary Order Routing rule that only allows your specific order ID to route (and blocks all others) during testing, then remove it when finished.

  • Order stuck in New

    • Give it a few minutes; initial processing can take a short time.

    • Confirm the order has the required customer, item, and location data in the sales channel.

    • Review Order Routing rules for conditions that could prevent it from moving to Ready for Fulfillment.
